A Thin Veneer of Propriety

Something Bold, Something New

I have been quiet on this site, I know. That’s not the best tack for a writer – I know that too. However, silent does not mean idle. The third book in the Embracing the Elephant series is soon to be released. The novel will be available by the end of January 2020.

In anticipation and invitation, I share the new story’s cover.

Whereas the first book of the series (Embracing the Elephant – see below) captures the awe, pain, and discovery of a lone and lonely child, and the second (A Veil of Fog and Flames) highlights the dangers, both physical and moral, my two young protagonists (Guine Walker and Jack Moylan) face as they hasten toward adulthood, this third book grapples with sinister influences lurking everywhere beneath the guise of gentility. A Peculiar Peace is a tale of thinly disguised disquiet and unrest. I believe this lovely painting by young artist Julia Von De Bur communicates just that.

In A Peculiar Peace, I return once again to the world of my flawed and undeniable characters, with love and admiration and excitement. I invite you to continue the journey with me – in January.
